About techniques, customs and habits of the “Drawing Club” (êëóáà «Ðèñîâàëüùèêîâ»)
The "Drawing Club” is a voluntary circle of people who share their love towards drawing. For already more than five years these artists and “drawing enthusiasts” have revived the ancient Parisian tradition of " free academy " (academie libre) in Moscow. And as in "classical" academy the main object of drawing here is the human body - the naked female or man's model – without the dictatorship of professoriate or any other restrictions.
Everyone draws as they can or want and everyone learns from each other and from the nature. The “Drawing Club” allows everyone to draw, just as everyone can become a model or take up art collecting at one of the clubs regular one-day exhibitions-actions.
As a rule the drawing enthusiasts use paper and, all sorts of graphic techniques: pencil, ink-feather, pastel, coal, ñàíãèíà, even graphic markers. Some years ago the club has also started utilising ceramics for their “drawing enthusiasm”.
In once well-known ceramic factories, which at the end of the nineties of the last century were in full decline, the club members have found their so-called "linen" – ceramic pottery - and used it in their drawing sessions. The results are dishes, plates, vases and cups with the image of the graceful nude model, all of which have contributed to the enormous success of the events of the "Drawing Club”.
