Celebrities with the strangest on-set demands

Hollywood is full of stars with unusual requests, both on set and in their contracts. From taking home entire movie wardrobes to refusing to let their characters die, these celebrities made sure things were done their way behind the scenes. Reese Witherspoon made sure Elle Woods stayed in her closet long after filming wrapped on ‘Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde’. During an appearance on ‘The Graham Norton Show’ in 2019, she revealed she had it written into her contract that she could keep all of her costumes, including an incredible 77 pairs of Jimmy Choo heels. Queen Latifah also negotiated a memorable clause, but hers had nothing to do with fashion. After several of her characters met unfortunate ends in films like ‘Set It Off’, ‘Sphere’, and ‘The Bone Collector’, she joked to Entertainment Tonight, "You gotta put a no death clause in these contracts so they can't just kill me off like this. I'm never gonna get a sequel in!" Nicolas Cage took things even further while filming a scene for the 1988 movie ‘Vampire's Kiss’. According to the film's DVD commentary, Cage actually pushed to use a real bat instead of a mechanical one and even sent a production assistant to try to catch one before director Robert Bierman convinced him the idea was far too dangerous. Then there's Samuel L. Jackson, whose contracts are a little more relaxing. Speaking to CNN, the actor revealed he always negotiates enough free time to play golf at least twice a week during filming. He even explained that he enjoys golf "because it's a perfect game for an only child… you get responsibility for everything you do bad, and you get all the credit for everything you do well.” Daniel Day-Lewis took method acting to a whole other level while filming the 2012 drama ‘Lincoln’. His co-star Lukas Haas later revealed that everyone on set, including even the director, Steven Spielberg, had to address him as "Mr. President" to help him remain in character as former US President Abraham Lincoln.
